Thierry Boulanger is an award-winning French composer, music director and arranger working in a wide variety of styles for both the stage and the screen.

 

His original musicals include Élémentaire, mon cher! (commissioned by Le Créa), Énooormes, La nuit d'Elliot Fall, Jusqu'aux Dents, Secret Défense (with J-P. Farré), C'est pas la vie? (L. Pelly), as well as two shows for young audiences: Le Secret de Fabula (multimedia show) and Le Vieux Fou de Dessin. He wrote the stage music for Mrs. Doubtfire (starring M. Leeb) and Barbe Bleue (based on the novel by A. Nothomb, with Pierre Santini).

He has composed the music for La Finale and Baobabs, commissioned by Josette Baïz for her dance company, Grenade.

 

For the screen, he has written the scores for several feature films (L'Origine du Monde by Laurent Lafitte, Tenir Tête by Julia Cordonnier, L'Orpheline avec en plus un bras en moins by Jacques Richard), for documentaries (5 ans avec Jamel, Louis Malle - un cinéaste français), as well as the music for the cult television series for Orange Cinéma, Plaisir de nuire, joie de décevoir.

 

As musical director and arranger, he has worked with Laurent Pelly (Souingue, Et Vian, en avant la zique!), Sylvie Joly (La cerise sur le gâteau), Natalie Dessay (Natalie Dessay sings Michel Legrand), Kad Merad and Laurent Lafitte (She Loves Me), as well as Alexis Michalik (The Producers)  He has also collaborated with Yvan Cassar on televised concerts as both orchestrator and arranger, as well as on Roberto Alagna's album, Malena. Additional musical theater MD credits include Peau d’Âne, Chance, Les Fiancés de Loche, Fantasmes de Demoiselles, and I Do! I Do!, among others.

Most recently he composed the musical interludes and conducted the 2023 Molières Awards Ceremony.
